Description

JSM (a subsidiary of JSM & Associates, LLC) is accepting applications for a qualified, licensed, and experienced Journeyman Electrician to join our team! The qualified candidate will have experience with industrial electrical motor controls and electrical automation. Prior experience with baggage handling systems, warehouse and loading bridges is preferred. This position will be on-site at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), located in Boston, MA.

The primary responsibilities include providing electrical guidance, maintenance and oversight of all mechanical/electrical systems covered under our maintenance contract, assisting other technicians with challenging electrical repairs, and troubleshooting electrical issues.

The primary responsibilities include providing electrical guidance, maintenance and oversight of all mechanical/electrical systems covered under our maintenance contract, assisting other technicians with challenging electrical repairs, and troubleshooting electrical issues.

 

Essential Job Functions:

The following are the core areas of responsibilities related to this position; specific assignments will vary depending on the needs of the customer and the maintenance services contract:

  • Provide electrical code guidance and direction on new equipment installations and ensure all new equipment/projects are wired to meet code/standards
  • Install and repair control and distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, thermostats, circuit-breaker panels, etc.
  • Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing systems and facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints
  • Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments and equipment
  • Test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit
  • Receive and complete work orders
  • Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates
  • Maintain accurate records on material and labor used
  • Maintain inventory of company-owned tools, equipment, and materials
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean
  • Work with construction contractors, airport representatives and supervisors to complete projects
  • Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed
  • If there is no specific electrical work to be addressed, assistance/support will be expected in other segments of the contract with the airport
  • Safety and Compliance Training as Required.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education/Certification: Journeyman Electrician License, State of Massachusetts (required)
  • Must have at least three to five (3-5) years of experience in the commercial electrical field
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Knowledge of electrical circuits and wiring and operating principles of motors
  • Knowledge of local electrical codes
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and written reference material
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
  • Ability to use hand and power tools
  • Must possess a valid drivers' license (with a clean driving record)
  • Must be able to work as scheduled (this is a 24 hour/day, 7 day/week operation)
  • If required, must be able to acquire a customs seal
  • OSHA 10 or 30 Certification (Construction)

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day
  • Ability up to lift up to 70 pounds; exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally with or without accommodation, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly
  • Ability to climb ladders and navigate safely on catwalks and other elevated surfaces within height-constrained environments
  • Ability work in and around baggage handling systems, passenger boarding bridges, or other related equipment
  • Regular exposure to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, cleaning/maintenance chemicals, cold and vibration
  • Ability to withstand exposure to potentially loud noise levels
  • Ability to withstand exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or other weather-related conditions


This full-time, non-exempt position will be located on-site, at the Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), located in Boston, MA. Our team works various schedules as this is a 24 hour/day, 7 day/week operation. The work week will be a schedule of 40 hours in total, with most of our shifts scheduled for either Sunday to Wednesday, or Wednesday to Saturday. The schedule for this position will be determined by the requirements of the airport and the company, with the additional expectation that our staff can be flexible with regards to potential changes in work schedules, when needed. All schedules will include working on holidays that fall on scheduled workdays.


The successful candidate must be able to pass a drug screening, a drivers' license check and validation, federal fingerprinting, and security threat assessment, as well as airport security badging.
