Description

JSM Airport Services, LLC (a subsidiary of JSM & Associates, LLC), is seeking qualified individuals to join our team in Denver! The BHS Entry Support Mechanic is an entry level position with varied responsibilities, including, but not limited to, monitoring and training airline employees on the proper induction of passenger bags into the baggage handling system. Note, this is a Part Time position.

 

Compensation:

  • Hourly Pay Rate: Up to $26.52 (Dependent on Experience)
  • Paid weekly
  • City and County of Denver Prevailing Wage Schedule will also apply (up to an additional $7.86/hour in fringe benefits)
  • 10% Shift Differential for regularly scheduled hours worked between 6:00 pm and 6:00 am, when applicable

Responsibilities:

Work under the direct supervision of a Machinery Maintenance Mechanic (MMM) or Control Systems Technician (CST)

to perform the following:

 

  • Works with airline employees on the proper introduction of passenger bags into the baggage handling system at Denver International Airport (DEN).
  • Monitor and correct bags that were improperly placed on conveyors.
  • Train airline personnel on how to make sure bags are appropriately tagged and letting airline employees know when bag tag printers need service.
  • Clear and reset jams and faults.
  • Perform cleaning, routine inspections and preventive on baggage handling equipment.
  • Learn, under direct supervision, to inspect all BHS equipment for proper operation and performance.
  • Collateral duties as required.
  • Safety and Compliance Training as Required.

 

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Minimum of one (1) year of mechanical work experience
  • Capable of working without direct supervision for more than fifty (50%) of the time
  • Capable of completing a task with minimal supervision (after proper training)
  • Fully proficient with, and capable of operating, mechanical hand tools

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to sit, stand, push, pull, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, climb, or crawl on a frequent basis
  • Ability to frequently lift/move items that may range in weight up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to withstand exposure to hot, cold, wet, or other weather-related conditions

This part-time, non-exempt position will be located on-site, at the Denver International Airport. Our team works various schedules as this is a 24 hour/day, 7 day/week operation. This part-time position will work no more than 30 hours per week, with the following schedules available:

  • Shift # 1: Sun/Mon/Tue: 3:40 am to 9:40 am (approximately 18 hours per week)
  • Shift # 2: Sun/Mon/Tue: 9:40 am to 3:40 pm (approximately 18 hours per week)
  • Shift # 3: Wed/Thurs/Fri/Sat: 3:40 am to 9:40 am (approximately 24 hours/week)
  • Shift # 4: Wed/Thurs/Fri/Sat: 9:40 am to 3:40 pm (approximately 24 hours/week)

Shift assignments are determined based on the requirements of the airport and the company, together with a mechanic's strengths, skill set, and experience. Our mechanics/technicians are expected to be flexible with regards to potential changes in shift assignments. All shift assignments will include working on holidays that fall on scheduled work days.

The successful candidate must be able to pass a drug screening, a drivers' license check and validation, federal fingerprinting, and security threat assessment, as well as airport security badging.
