Job Summary: The Project Engineer is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) that works closely with Project Managers to act as a liaison between clients, contractors and JSM. The Project Engineer can have a variety of responsibilities based on their incoming experience and JSM needs, including production of building information models (BIM), collaboration with Designers and Senior Designers to manage drawing package development, system simulations, flight schedule analyzes, and field work encompassing on-site analyzes such as inspections, surveys, product approvals, and equipment tests. The Project Engineer is also responsible for developing design reports and specification documents for client submittal as the project progresses.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Organizing and controlling project tasks
  • Verifying compliance to project specifications to ensure that customer requirements and performance
  • Standards are met by contractors
  • Developing project specifications in coordination with the Project Manager
  • Performing technical studies and cost estimates
  • Monitoring project schedule and progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
  • Confirming systems performance by designing and conducting tests
  • Preparing project status reports
  • Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data
  • Performing site inspections
  • Maintain JSM's professional standards and enhance company reputation.
  • Safety and compliance training as required.
  • Perform other related job duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical or Aeronautical Engineering
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, as well as independently.
  • Ability to work in a challenging environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Basic Microsoft Office Computer Skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams etc.)
  • Ability to multi-task on projects
  • Flexibility to travel on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work irregular hours (such as late shifts) when needed.
  • Ability to work extra time when needed to meet project deadlines.
  • Prior experience working on Automated Material Handling Systems Operations is highly desired – preferred.
  • Experience with project scheduling software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) – preferred.
  • Working knowledge of CAD and/or Revit – preferred.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand, sit for long periods of time, bend, use hands to manipulate (type), talk and hear; walk and sit.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral visions, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Additional Requirements:

The employee must be able to successfully pass a drug screening, a drivers’ license check and validation, a ten (10) year Criminal History Records Check (CHRC), federal fingerprinting and security threat assessment as well as airport security badging.
